Poem of the Month: November 2002
It could happen any time, tornado,
earthquake, Armageddon. It could happen.
Or sunshine, love, salvation.
It could you know. That's why we wake
and look out - no guarantees
in this life.
But some bonuses, like morning,
like right now, like noon,
like evening.
- William Stafford
Journal prompts:
- Write about the word "yes." How present is "yes" in your life? Write about a time when you said "yes" to someone, or a time when someone said "yes" to you. Write an alphapoem using the letters of the word yes, then see how many different alphapoems you can write using those same letters.
- What are the bonuses in your life? Write a list of 100.
- Use the words, "It could happen any time..." as the prompt for a five minute write that lists the things you are afraid might happen, then, stop and write the prompt again, then write for five minutes about the things you would like to happen in the near future.
