Poem of the Month: December 2001

Early Darkness Think of it as ink:           an indigo dye descending           between the leaves of the trees           and down to the grasses.           There is no dying of the light -           just the washing of a bowl,      and overturning it for night.           When day arrives we must write with              bottled darkness.      In the night we can dream              free messages of light. - D. Patrick Miller Journal prompts: Write about the ways you celebrate the "season of lights." Make a list of projects you'd like to either start or finish this winter. What messages of light do you offer to your family, friends, the world, this holiday season? Begin a write with the words "In the night I can dream..."
