The Journal to the Self® Instructor Certification Training Intensive
March 21-25, 2011
October 10-14, 2011
Denver, Colorado
with Kathleen Adams LPC, CCJF, Instructor
Founder/Director, Center for Journal Therapy
Is the Journal to the Self® Instructor Certification Training Intensive right for you? Take this simple quiz and find out. Answer YES or NO to the following questions:
- Have you ever said to yourself... "I wish my work were more personally satisfying"?
- Do you love journal writing, and know from personal experience that journal writing can be a wonderful tool for personal growth, healing, creative expression, etc.?
- Could you use an expansion of your income, clientele, and/or way of working?
- Are you ready for a personal "stretch," a new challenge?
- Do you want to use journal writing in your current work, with both individuals and groups?
- Do you have roots in your own community? Have you lived there a while? Do you know at least some of the bookstores, schools, churches, workplaces, libraries, etc.?
- Are you a self-starter? Do you follow through with plans? Is it easy for you to make time for yourself, meet deadlines and stay on track with projects that are "just for you"?
- Do you enjoy high-energy, stimulating, intense experiences?
- Do you like to learn in a setting with a community of other explorers, hands-on experiential learning, and the opportunity to work directly with a master teacher?
- Are you willing to invest in yourself?
SCORING:
- You answered YES to at least three of #1-6, including #2. You are likely an excellent candidate for the Journal to the Self® Instructor Certification Training (ICT), whether Home-Study or Intensive! However—
- You answered NO to #2. This may not be the right program for you. Every Certified Instructor must have personal experience with journal writing as a positive tool in his or her own life. Please order Journal to the Self and any of our other books from our online bookstore, immerse yourself in your own journal for a year or two, and check back with us.
- You answered NO to #7. You will likely do much better with the Intensive than you would with the Home Study Program. If YES, you would likely do fine with either.
- You answered YES to either #8 or #9. You are an excellent candidate for the Intensive. (Double that if YES to both.) However—
- You answered NO to #8. The Home Study training might be better for you. The "Intensive" is called that for a reason. It's very highly energized and stimulating. If you know this type of environment is stressful for you, to the point where it would affect your learning capacity, think carefully about the Home Study training.
- You answered NO to #10. This may not be the right time for you to consider the Instructor Certification Training. The ICT requires investment of time, money, energy and resources. You'll leave the Intensive with a step-by-step written plan for how you can earn back the entire cost of your training in your first few classes or groups, but it does require you to take a risk and invest in yourself at the front end.
What You Will Learn at the ICT Intensive:
- Monday, March 21, 2011: Arrive at the Loretto Center in south suburban Denver and settle into your room. Dinner is at 5:00, and we’ll have our introductory gathering from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, March 22, 2011: We’ll start right in with the philosophy and logistics of teaching the Journal to the Self workshop. You’ll learn expert tips and techniques for group leadership, from the practical (what should you never leave home without?) to the process (how do you deal with challenging people in your classes?), plus how to customize the workshop for special populations and audiences.
- Wednesday, March 23, 2011: Gain confidence and mastery with a practice teaching opportunity complete with immediate feedback from peers and author of the method Kathleen Adams.
- Thursday, March 24, 2011: An entire day on marketing and business development, culminating in a written, step-by-step plan to earn back all tuition and expenses of the ICT Intensive
- Friday, March 25, 2011: You’ll present your marketing plans and hear those of your peers, and we’ll graduate by noon! You can shuttle back to the airport for an afternoon/evening flight, or continue with plans to spend the weekend in the Denver area or the Colorado mountains.
Plus You Will Receive All the Benefits of the Home-Study Program, Including:
- A full curriculum manual with step-by-step lesson plans for 4-week, 6-week and modular versions of the Journal to the Self® Workshop
- A PowerPoint presentation to support your promotional efforts
- Camera-ready artwork for a brochure and business card
- Four copies of the Journal to the Self® Workbook to jump-start your first classes
- Written materials to reinforce in-person learning
- A listing in the Instructor Directory
- And so much more!
