Mark Matousek is the author of two acclaimed memoirs, Sex Death Enlightenment: A True Story and The Boy He Left Behind: A Man's Search for His Lost Father, as well as When You're Falling, Dive: Lessons in the Art of Living. His new book Ethical Wisdom: What Makes Us Good will be published in May, 2011.  A 20-year student of Buddhism, he teaches memoir-writing workshops around the country (and online through www.markmatousek.com, and is Creative Director of V-Men (with Eve Ensler), an organization devoted to ending violence against women and girls.

Mary Reynolds Thompson, CAPF, CPCC

The essence of the natural and untamed world -- flourishing and free -- pervades our deepest souls. But how do we access that part of us? How do we connect with the soul's wild landscapes? Working with the images of writers and poets like Joy Harjo and Barry Lopez, and your own precious images, this class explores the relationship between the earth's wild places and your own inner wilderness. Together, we'll journey through five archetypal landscapes--Deserts, Forests, Oceans and Rivers, Mountains, and Grasslands--in search of answers for your own soul, and a way of living that helps you connect with your natural and instinctive aliveness. An excellent companion course to Writing from the Natural World, but can also be a stand-alone class.
