Professional Training 

Kathleen Adams offers both on-site and distance-learning training in journal and poetry therapy, as well as instructor certification in journal writing. Program prerequisites are listed below. The Center for Journal Therapy is approved as a provider (#5782) of continuing education by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). All professional training may be taken for continuing education hours.

Abnormal Psychology Online Course is a 10-week course open to anyone. It is designed to meet the Certified Poetry Therapy prerequisite requirement, and it also has been approved to meet the prerequisites for some graduate school programs. It is also an excellent class for those not in the profession who are interested in mental health and/or self-help.

Admission to the Journal to the Self® Instructor Certification Training is by application. This short course (45-90 days) prepares graduates to teach the Journal to the Self® workshop in their own communities. A perfect way to supplement income with work you love.

The Poetry/Journal Therapy Intensive at Loretto Spirituality Center (June 11-16, 2007) is a 5-day residential intensive into the theory and practice of poetry/journal therapy, set at a contemplative retreat center in the suburban Denver area. Priority given to CAPF/CPT/PTR trainees and JTTS Certified Instructors, but also open to psychotherapists, counselors, grad students, language arts teachers and spiritual directors.

The Clinical Journal Therapy Home Study Series is a CEU course available only to licensed mental health professionals who require continuing education hours. All five courses in this series are approved for CEUs by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). You must state your licensure when ordering.
